About Astray

An alarm that wakes you by where you are — not by the clock.

Why Astray exists

Most alarms wake you at a time: "6:30 AM." But on a train or a bus, time doesn't tell you when you've arrived. If you fall asleep on the way home, you can sleep straight past your stop.

Astray flips the idea around. Instead of setting a time, you set a place — your station, your stop, your destination. Astray watches your location and sounds the alarm just before you get there, even with the app tucked in your pocket or your screen off.

It's built for commuters: the late shift worker dozing on the last train, the student nodding off on a long bus ride, anyone who has ever woken up one stop too far.

How it works

Drop a pin on your destination, choose how far out you want to be alerted, and go. Astray registers the area with iOS and sounds the alarm the moment you cross into it — using AlarmKit so it works reliably in the background, with a live countdown in the Dynamic Island and on the lock screen.

Going further than one stop? Astray Pro turns a single alarm into a full journey — multiple stops, wrong-turn alerts if you head the wrong way, and a trip-wide live activity showing your ETA at every leg.

Privacy by design

Astray's philosophy is simple: the best way to protect your data is not to store it at all. Your location, your routes and your destinations stay on your own device — every distance check happens there, and none of it is sent to our servers. There are no accounts and no location history. To keep Astray free we do show ads and collect anonymous usage statistics, and our privacy policy spells out exactly what that involves.

Built for iOS 26

Astray is built natively for iOS 26 and uses AlarmKit and Live Activities to make location-based alarms feel as dependable as a regular alarm — but smarter. It's available in 11 languages and tuned to be gentle on your battery.

The developer

Astray is made by an independent developer who builds focused, privacy-conscious tools for everyday life.
